![]() To me, ecchi isn't just some catch-all for exploitation of sexuality, like everything else there are nuances to it. I think what I said was I consider Oreimo ecchi for vastly different reasons. In fact, I don't remember typing that at all. It's ecchi, though it's tame compared to a lot of things. I don't think Galko-chan getting embarrassed over nipple hairs is for the purpose of titillation. If I had to define the genre I'd say Ecchi's have a quality of frequently displaying sexual things for the purpose of titilation. I have to completely disagree, a show with sexual subject matter =/= ecchi. To me, an ecchi show is a show I would never let any of my children watch, and both Oreimo and Eromanga-Sensei fall into this category. I agree that okusama should be ecchi, it's very fanservicey. To illustrate this, note how Okusama wa Seitokaichou and "Oshiete! Galko-chan* are not classified as "ecchi" despite their subject matter and displays of ecchi behavior. There's not a rule where once you go ecchi, you never go back. A creator can make work A ecchi and also make work B not ecchi. Since they're by the same author how could one be so and the other not be so? But please try and explain why or why not you think they way you do. If you find it one way or the other, that's fine. On many levels.īut this post isn't about my opinion on the matter: What I really want to know are the opinions of "the masses", as they were. To illustrate this, note how okusama wa Joshikousei is not classified as "ecchi" despite the subject matter and displays of ecchi behavior. The biggest issue I have with this, is that in almost all cases of attempting to explain why I think these shows are "ecchi" I keep finding people hiding behind MAL and their, of course infallible, tags. ![]() Well, in truth, I found Oreimo to be an ecchi show as well, but for vastly different reasons. Now, I've heard arguments that Oreimo isn't ecchi either, and since they're by the same author how could one be so and the other not be so? To me, the very fact that "Eromanga-sensei" was the pseudonym of the artist solidified it as some form of ecchi show. I, personally, can't say that it isn't, in some way, an ecchi show every episode has at least one 12 year old girl acting lewdly in one fashion or another whether it be for research or seducing MC-kun. Recently, I've been seeing a large amount of debate over this topic.
